They are mostly formed by gram (+) microorganisms. Mainly Clostridium tetani(tetanus agent), Clostridiumagent), Clostridium perfringens, some of Gram (-) s, Shigella dysenteria (dysentery agent), Vibrio cholera (cholera agent) make exotoxin. Exotoxins are released by the microorganism.

Toxins dissolve in water. Therefore, they spread rapidly in their environment. Apart from bacteria, some animals also make exotoxins. Toxins are very severe poisons. Sıvı halde ve beklemekle aktivitelerini kısmen kaybederler. Clostridium botulinum toksini yeryüzünde bilinen en kuvvetli toksindir.

Toxins are generally polypeptide substances. Molecular weights vary between 10-90,000. They are not resistant to heat and protein-dissolving enzymes. They have an antigenic structure. They produce special antibodies in the organism they enter. Diphtheria, botulinum and tetanus toxin trap the nervous system and cause some paralysis.
