Exposure Risk Assessment of Plant Protection Products for Applicators, Workers, Residents, and Bystanders
As part of the authorization process for Plant Protection Products (PPPs), an exposure assessment for applicators, workers, residents, and bystanders must be conducted to assist risk assessors and applicants in determining the extent of potential non-dietary, systemic exposures. According to Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Union, risk assessments must be conducted for all expected exposure scenarios resulting from the proposed uses of a plant protection product in accordance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).The assessment of exposure for applicators, workers, residents, and bystanders in the routine risk evaluation of PPPs should employ deterministic methods and a tiered approach to exposure assessment. This assessment should be continuously updated with each new label recommendation.
