Intracutaneous Irritation Test

In order to evaluate the irritating effects of medical devices on the skin, polar and/or non-polar extracts obtained from medical devices are applied to the skin of rabbits as a single dose and the reactions are evaluated. Transcutaneous Irritation testing is generally preferred for implanted medical devices.
